Liverpool offers Trent Alexander-Arnold a £78m deal amid Real Madrid interest. Will TAA stay at Anfield or move to the Bernabeu this summer?
Liverpool has made an overwhelming offer keeping in mind the competition that the young defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has attracted from European giants Real Madrid. The club has put up a truly astonishing deal of £78 million for five years equaling £300,000 a week-aimed at locking the 26-year-old into a future at Anfield. Real Madrid has matched the price for weekly wages and has tempted Alexander-Arnold with an extra signing-on fee if he signed with them as a free agent in the coming summer.
Now, he should have one of the hardest career decisions standing in front of him: to remain for a lifetime in his home club, an institution now, or be the major signing at Los Blancos, perhaps one of the richest teams in the world.
Liverpool's Determination to Keep Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool has left no stone unturned to keep the boy at the club, for them; he is not just an important current member of their squad but also a future captain when the likes of Virgil van Dijk eventually stand down as first-teamers. However, there is no public talk from Alexander-Arnold about the armband. His humility does not suggest that he fancies individual glory over team success. Well, who would want a lad who's currently so promising to become old before they can prize him from their city.
Liverpool is not willing to let him leave midseason for simple reasons: the top positions they occupy in the hot race for this year's Premier League title. To the people running Liverpool, no offers, not even Real Madrid's rumored £20 million said to be available for a transfer in January, would be worth disturbing their campaign.
Alexandre Arnold's Dilemma
For Alexander-Arnold, the decision is far from simple. Staying at Liverpool would further cement his status as a local hero and possibly lead to legendary status at the club. On the other hand, Real Madrid offers the allure of becoming a Galactico, joining a roster of the world's finest players, and competing for glory in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

The defender has kept tight-lipped about his future, stating:
“I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public – and this one won’t be either.”
This statement reflects his desire to handle the matter with discretion, avoiding unnecessary speculation or disruption to Liverpool’s current season.
Liverpool’s Confidence in Renewing Other Star Contracts
Aside from the saga with the contract of Alexander-Arnold, nothing less is happening about signing him together with two other key players of the club-Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. The two stars are entering the last year of their contracts, which means they are now eligible to negotiate with foreign clubs. However, Liverpool is reported to see anything possible in adding another two years to both players' contracts.
Particularly about Salah, there are lots of interests of top European clubs and Saudi-Arabian teams, but he is still inclined to continue at Anfield with the right terms.
