Much excitement has been the Indian audience in waiting for the re-release of Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama in Indian theatres on October 18th. However, the wait gets longer, as the much-anticipated anime film that is to grace Indian theatres in remastered 4K with new Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubs has come under delay. Why Delay
Although the movie has been delayed, Geek Pictures India ensured fans that it is done for their good. The excitement of the buffs reached everyone in India that led the distributors to rethink their strategy and ensure that this animated classic reaches as many theaters as possible. In a statement posted on their Instagram page, Geek Pictures, thanked all Indian fans for their love and affection and said they will do everything in their power to make it available in as many cinemas across the country as possible.
It will, for example, make it possible to have a more spectacular and wider release that allows the public to witness the culture and historical perspectives of this movie in its fullest extent.
A Classic Returns in 4K
For those not in the know about the film, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama is an anime made in 1993, a co-production from Japan and India, that tells the story of Ramayana with such an attractive as well as visually stunning form that it was only to result in a great review. It was under the direction of Yugo Sako, Ram Mohan, and Koichi Sasaki.
The movie captured everyone's heart with its earlier Hindi version. The star cast of Ramayan's television version-Shri Arun Govil as Ram, Namrata Sawhney as Sita, and the great one, Amrish Puri as Raavan-gave this voice cast the gravitas and nostalgia for the Indian audiences, and hence proved to be a golden treasure in the animated adaptations of Ramayana.
Although it screened at the 24th International Film Festival of India in 1993, it did not hit cinema halls then. The film struck gold with the new generation in the early 2000s with reruns on Indian television. With its new 4K release, it is going to capture the hearts of both old and new viewers.
What Makes This Re-Release Special?
The re-release of Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama in 4K is an opportunity for fans to relive the magic of that film; it gives an experience like never before. The remastered version promises new visuals made even more vibrant and detailed than what everyone saw through the animation. New dubs in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu make sure that audiences across different regions in India get to experience the film, which is all the more thrilling.
But that's just the technical upgradation part. Geek Pictures India has clarified the fact that the film is much more than the movie itself. It is a cultural artifact with celebration of good winning over evil, harmony between nature and living beings, and power of relationships, friendship and trust. The essence that is timeless has made this film reach the hearts of Indians, hence the re-release will be more meaningful than monetary value in the theatre.
The new release date is still unconfirmed, but Geek Pictures India has promised to do this soon; so that it wouldn't go against what they envision for the film, meaning that more people can be shown the adaptation of Ramayana by your favorite anime. That's to say, fans won't have to wait for too long to see their favorite anime adaptation of the epic Ramayana at the cinema.
Meanwhile, people await with bated breath. Social networking sites have been abuzz with fans expressing glee in the return of the film, especially in the wake of other anime and animated films seeing a resurgence in Indian theatres.
