We are all very excited for the Paris Olympics 2024. Here are some facts that are going to blow your mind.
A Century in the Making:
The Olympics are held in Paris every precisely 100 years, so the last one was in 1924. Therefore, the 2024 games would represent a centennial year of a hundred years since Paris last hosted the world's biggest sporting event.
A Unique Opening Ceremony:
This was the first time any of us had ever seen an Olympic opening ceremony on the Seine River.
This year, the ceremony wasn't held within a stadium, which is always the case with such; it was done on the water, creating an excellent backdrop and brand new experience for audiences all over the world.
Gender Equality:
It is the 33rd Summer Olympics edition, which is going to be the first time the number of men and women gets balanced in the history of the games. This is how the Paris Olympics 2024 is going to be remembered: by becoming a strong promotional platform for gender equality through sports.
Introducing Breaking:
This will be the first Olympic Games event to include breaking as a new sport.
It is a dance competition in which 16 boys and 16 girls compete against one another in solo battles. Breaking seems to inject some freshness and energy into the palette of Olympic sports.
Special Medals:
Within every Olympic medal, there is a little piece of Eiffel Tower skin. It is thus such a unique tribute to Paris that makes the medals special even to the winners.
The City of Love:
Of interest is the fact that this year's Olympics were held in what is termed the city of love, Paris.
A total of 300,000 condoms are given out to ensure safe sex among athletes. The move underlines health and safety during the games.
